A fund-raising opportunity for charities

Soon, people will be keeping an eye out for those helpful gift-wrapping stations outside the shops.

CHRISTMAS is almost here, which means people will start their Christmas shopping soon while keeping an eye out for those helpful gift-wrapping stations outside the shops.

The tradition of charities wrapping gifts in exchange for customer donations has become a Christmas tradition at Shoprite and Checkers stores. Once again, the stores are calling on registered charities to apply for this annual festive season fund-raiser.

Hundreds of qualifying charities tend gift-wrapping stations at approximately 577 Shoprite, Checkers and Checkers Hyper stores across the country. Here, customers can have their gifts wrapped on-the-go in exchange for a small donation.

It’s easy to apply and become a beneficiary organisation. Simply follow these steps:

1. Complete the online application form before November 2, 2018.

2. Attach a copy of your South African ID or passport and NPO certificate.

3. Read the terms and conditions.

4. Wait for an email confirmation regarding the status of your application.

“We encourage all customers to take advantage of this in-store service. All proceeds are donated to the local charity tending the station,” said Lunga Schoeman, CSI spokesperson for Shoprite and Checkers
