COMMUNICATIONS officer from Maxion Wheels in Alrode, Salomé Volek, was given an award of thanks for helping a man realise his dream and turn it into a big success.
The man, Jerry “Taxido” Zwane, had a dream to start a project that gets troubled youth off the streets, and into arts and culture. He had wanted to call it “Taxido Arts and Culture”.
Jerry and Salomé had a good companionship at the time, so he approached her to ask if she could help him kickstart his dream and he will forever recognise her if his dream becomes a success someday.
Salomé was happy to help Jerry because she happens to be a person with a passion for happy people. She provided him with enough funds to kickstart his dream and his wonderful artful talent could keep it growing.
Not just another dream
So it happened! Since its establishment in 2003, Taxido Arts and Culture has become a great success. Jerry is doing what he loves and had always wanted to do and currently mentors six students, all who happen to be very talented dancers. Taxido Arts and Culture have even travelled to different continents, participating in various international dancing competitions.
After Taxido Arts and Culture recently won its first internationally-renowned award for its wonderful talent, Jerry did not forget about what he told Salomé. He had an award made for her, to thank her for making his dream, which has become a wonderful success, possible.

He handed this award to her on September 22. Jerry said to her: “Thank you, my dear friend, for all your help and support and for funding my dream, making it real and fantastic. We are here because of your help and we honour you for assisting our passion for art.”
Salomé was so happy and grateful for this and said: “It’s only a pleasure. It is so worth it to know that I have made someone truly happy! I am so proud of you for making such a success from your dream. May you show the world everything you’ve got.”
Paying it forward
The students from Taxido Arts and Culture also decided to thank Jerry for being such a great leader and mentor. They expressed how thankful they were for everything he has done for them and for being a wonderful father-like role model to them.
Salomé thanks her employers, Maxion Wheels, for reinforcing her passion for other people’s happiness.

“This company really cares about their employees and their families, their happiness at the workplace, further education and the development of their skills,” she said.
“I truly do what I love at a place that loves me back, as an individual and not just another employee. That is why I helped Jerry. I love seeing others happy and my workplace reinforces that in me.”
