Enzo Pietropaolo case postponed

The family of the victim, Mannie Pietropaolo, are disheartened by this further delay.

VINCENZO Pietropaolo’s (61) murder case has once again been postponed to October 30 in the Johannesburg High Court.

Pietropaolo stands accused of murdering his estranged wife, Manuela, at her Brackenhurst home in November last year. Manuela (Mannie) was shot nine times.

Pietropaolo did not appear in court on June 1 due to some administrative issues. Correctional Services were under the impression that he had to appear in court on June 4.

He also did not appear on June 4 because he tried to commit suicide while in custody and was in a coma in ICU at the time of his scheduled appearance.

According to the investigating officers, he overdosed on pills and was admitted to the Tambo Memorial Hospital in Boksburg late in the afternoon of June 1.

During his appearance on October 24, his lawyers asked the court permission for Pietropaolo to be evaluated by a psychologist, appointed by their team, to find out whether he needs to go for a full psych evaluation.

It was argued that if their psychologist’s reports are back on October 30 and the reports state that he does need an evaluation, they’ll argue to have him placed at Sterkfontein for 30 days before the trial can proceed. If, however, the psychologist believes he doesn’t need an evaluation the trial will proceed.

The family of the victim are disheartened by this further delay. RECORD will keep our readers updated with any and all new developments in the case.
