Introducing Alberton Child Welfare’s new director

“I can impact a few children’s lives positively throughout my career, I’ll fulfil my purpose in life.”

SINCE October 15, Zeenith Domingo is the new director of Alberton Child Welfare, alongside its supervisor, Philip Aucamp.

Zeenith (59) is a resident of Walkerville. She has been married to her husband, Shafaath, for the past 36 years and is the proud mother of two – Zara (27) and Sher (26). She has worked for the government as a social worker for the most part of her career, as she described her biggest passion as making positive changes in the lives of children.

Making it worthwhile

With emotion in her eyes, she said: “It absolutely breaks my heart to see children suffer. They are already too pure for this world.” She added having to see and deal with children who suffer on a regular basis, is the biggest challenge she faces in her career.

A HEART FOR CHILDREN: Zeenith Domingo, the new director at Alberton Child Welfare, has a soft place in her heart for children who are vulnerable.

Working with children who so undeservingly suffer, and on a regular basis as Zeenith does, is not the most rewarding way to spend one’s time. However, Zeenith said when it does get rewarding and a bad situation turns into a good one, it’s an amazing feeling for her and makes all other stress worthwhile.

“I know I can’t change the world, but if I can impact a few children’s lives positively throughout my career, I’ll fulfil my purpose in life,” said Zeenith. “In my opinion, the ideal world would have every young person educated, self-confident and determined enough to reach their dreams. Every child deserves that opportunity.”

Zeenith is looking forward to working with the Alberton community.

“I look forward to a long and wonderful bond with the community. Please support the Alberton Child Welfare in any and every way possible, albeit through donations or voluntary work – all help is always appreciated. Thank you.”
