70 Alberton Figures branch students compete in National Student Model of the Year Finals
Students from Alberton Figures Finess took part at the National Student Model of the Year Competition.
The National Student Model of the Year Competition held by the Figures Finesse International Talent and Modelling Agency took place from November 30 to December 2 at the Roodepoort Youth Theatre.
This is the competition of the year that the models work towards throughout the year. This much-anticipated competition has been held annually for the last 36 years.
Founder of Figures Models SA, Elsa Van Den Heever, created and initiated this event. Her vision was to set up a modelling academy for young girls and boys who aspire to become model type adults.
The National Student Model of the Year Competition currently sees the involvement of 19 active Figures branches from across South Africa, including Namibia where the prize money is in excess of R900 000. Over 1 500 student contestants compete in their various categories.
Each group is subdivided into three different categories – fashion, commercial and skill. The only exception to this is the fashion team where eight to 10 individual students from each branch choreograph and design their own clothing for their particular themed modelling sequence.
The winners in each category won an all-expenses-paid boat cruise aboard the newly released MSC Musica from March 18 to 22 in 2019 where 15 international talent and modelling agents will scout for the best talent among the students.
Second and third places won cash and a discounted opportunity to be part of the Project Aim aboard the MSC Musica.
Alberton Figures branch was very proud to have over 70 of their students compete in the National Student Model of the Year Finals. The students excelled on stage, bringing their own kind of magic to the show.
Models brought home the following accomplishments:
Girls 13 to 15 years fashion winner – Shannon French; skills winner – Tieghan Ann Griffin-Coetzer with third place commercial – Chelsea Nortje.
Girls 16 years and older third place fashion winner was Carami van Der Vywer. In the girls two to six years the fashion winner was Carmen Norris, second place skills – Bronwyn-Lee Peyper, second place commercial – Chanelle Smit and third place commercial – Emily Herbst.
