Amazing Alberton night of the legends

A kaleidoscope of colour took the spotlight away from the grey skies on the last Friday of November when Randhart u.10 rugby side proudly hosted the unique night of the rugby legends in the Johann van der Merwe hall Alberton Indoor Sport Complex.

ALBERTON – Never before in the 109 years of Alberton sport history, were so many rugby legends together in one venue to entertain the guests.

The legends present, where rugby stories which were never heard before were told and relived, were: Springbok greats Naas Botha, Gysie Pienaar, Japie Mulder, James Small, Ray Mordt, Pieter Hendriks, Johan Ackerman and Lukas Van Biljon. Test referees Andre Watson and Andy Turner graced the evening with their presence and so did Golden Lions provincial stars Derick Minnie, Willie Brits and Bennie Nortje.

The most intriguing part of the amazing evening, was the opportunity for rugby fans to compare the referees, coaches and players, even though they do not have the same role in the same game.

Insight was given in the essential role of each one of them for the love of the wonderful game of rugby. More photos and the full story to follow in future issue and look local website.
