Shavathon at Bracken City

The main purpose was to make a difference.

BRACKEN City supported the 16th national Shavathon on March 2 to show their support towards Cansa.

The event was held in the courtyard outside of Pick n Pay. The main purpose was to make a difference.

Hairdressers from Paul James Hairdressing Bracken City were there to assist with the cutting and styling of hair. People had the chance to either shave all of their hair or to get it sprayed.

Ones who did not want to do either of those could make a donation. The day was a huge success as a lot of residents and clients came to show their support.

About Cansa Shavathon

Cansa Shavathon is one of South Africa’s best-loved events in support of a very worthy cause, namely showing solidarity to those affected by cancer. Losing one’s hair is a common side effect of cancer therapy, so shaving your head has become a symbolic gesture of support for cancer survivors.

Colouring your hair or paying a “bail-out fee” have become options for those who prefer not to shave, or who can’t shave on the day. For those who like to be actively engaged and make a difference, Shavathon embraces volunteers. Their support is invaluable.
