How to get your complaint reported to Ekurhuleni

These tips will help you to lodge your complaint about service delivery.

THESE useful tips may just be handy next time you want to lodge a complaint about service delivery.

It is important that you get all your info together beforehand – even if you have to write it out on a list in case you forget something.

You will need:

• In order to lodge your complaint, you will have to give your full names, street address and street number or nearest house.

• Don’t forget your contact numbers – landline as well as cellphone number in order to receive your reference number via SMS.

Description of the problem

If it is water, try and find out if it is fresh water or sewage water.

Do not touch the water.

If it is electricity, please check your own DB board first.

Although you don’t need your account number, it does sometimes come in handy if you are able to supply it.

Although map location is also not needed, it may speed up things if you can use Google Maps to drop a pin on the location.

Copy the web link from Google Maps.

Contact Ekurhuleni

If you are calling them, you may have to try several times.

If there is no answer, or it hangs up please try again in a few minutes.

If you are sending an email or a Tweet, then include all of the above info in your email or Tweet.

Be as detailed as possible.

Be deliberate, but patient

You can report using multiple channels (e.g. phone and email).

Don’t get upset. If you don’t receive a reference number after an hour, then phone again, or use a different channel.

Escalate your problem

After four to 24 hours you can try to escalate your problem by sending it to your ward councillor via email – don’t forget to include your reference number(s).

Send it to the resident’s association or ask the group admin of the WhatsApp group for your area for an email address to escalate to.
