Brackendowns Baptist Church hosts walk for cancer patients

To support cancer patients, a Brackendowns Baptist Church will host a 3km to 5km walk on May 1.

TO support cancer patients, Brackendowns Baptist Church will host a 3km to 5km walk on May 1. The walk will start from the church around the neighbourhood and back to the church.

All the money raised from tickets and donations received will be given to the Stepping Stone Hospice and the Cancer Association, the church’s chosen beneficiaries. There will be food stalls and jumping castles.

The church hosted a walk for cancer patients in 2017 which turned out as a success. They hope to host this walk annually.

Sharon Esterhuizen, the organiser of the event, said the walk will serve as a way of giving back to the community. Registration starts at 7am and the walk starts at 8am. Walkers are required to register for R100.

“The walk is a great way to bring the community together and support the people that support us. Many of us have been affected by cancer in some way or another. The tickets can be purchased on Ticketpro or Brackengate SPAR,” she said.

Those interested may contact Sharon on 072 123 7151 or via email on sharonesterhuizen.se@gmail.com

The public is encouraged to attend in great numbers.
