UPDATE: Mayberry Park family still in shock after fire
The cause of the massive fire that destroyed a house on Fir Street, Mayberry Park, is still being investigated.
THE Mayberry Park family who lost all their belongings in a fire on May 29 is still trying to come to grips with the event.
Flames swept through the house and destroyed almost all the furniture and most household belongings, leaving the house roofless.
The cause of the fire has still not been established.
The RECORD spoke to Joao de Souza, a neighbour who was first on the scene to help put out the fire.

He said the fire was out of hand as he tirelessly tried to put it out.
“As I was in my house, my wife called out to me saying that our neighbour’s house was on fire. I then rushed over and went inside the house to check if everyone was out. I joined the fire department in putting out the fire to prevent it from spreading to the other sides of the house,” de Souza said.
The owner of the house told the RECORD that the whole incident was under investigation.
“At the moment, we stay with friends and family and we are trying to get our heads around the devastation. We are still in shock as to what happened on the day,” he said.
