Knitting project to keep less fortunate warm

Women's Auxiliary appeals to the community to support them in their jersey drive to keep the less fortunate warm.

As winter has finally arrived, Women’s Auxiliary ladies of the Alberton Methodist Church are hosting a jersey drive for the month of June.

The Women’s Auxiliary ladies’ project has been running for years now and continues to make a difference in the community. They appeal to the community to support them in this effort of bringing warmth to others.

Through this project, jerseys and jackets are distributed to old age homes, children’s homes and the homeless. This is supervised by LOTS. LOTS is an outreach project of the Alberton Methodist Church in conjunction with other groups in the community.

Knit-o-thon

In collaboration with the jersey drive, the Women’s Auxiliary will host a Knit-o-thon on June 22 at 2pm in the AMC Coffee Shop.

On the day, squares will be knitted and afterwards sewed together to make blankets. These blankets will then be donated to clinics and hospitals for the “Newspaper or Fish and Chips” babies. These are babies that have no blankets to go home in after being born.

Everyone is welcome to join the Women’s Auxiliary ladies for a fun-filled afternoon of fellowship, delicious soup and eats. Women’s Auxiliary requests contributions of a knitter in making this project a success.
