UPDATE: Accident on N12 at the R59 Reading Interchange claims a life

Rescuers had to use specialised tools and equipment to lift the truck off the man.

A TRUCK driver was killed and another sustained various injuries when a large truck overturned along the N12 at the R59 Reading Interchange, South of Johannesburg on July 4.

At approximately 3.25pm, paramedics from ER24, as well as rescuers from the City of Johannesburg, arrived on the scene where they found the truck lying on its side.

The truck veered off the road and crashed through the Armco barrier before coming to a standstill. Sadly, the driver of the truck was ejected during the incident and trapped underneath the truck.

There was nothing that paramedics could do for him and he was declared dead on the scene. Rescuers had to use specialised tools and equipment to lift the truck off the man.

The driver of the truck died.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The passenger was found a few metres away from the truck. He was treated by medics for moderate injuries and later transported to Lenmed Ahmed Kathrada Hospital for further care.

The exact circumstances surrounding the incident is not yet known. ER24, Fox Security and other local authorities attended to the scene.
