New linen will go a long way

"The care he received was just amazing and I really felt that I should be doing something to help the hospice." - Karin Serfontein.

A CHARITY group, The Cradle Project, in conjunction with Volpes in Mall @ Newmarket, recently donated 32 new duvet covers, pillow slips, pillows and sheets to Stepping Stone Hospice.

Karin Serfontein, who initiated this donation, said she did this because of the excellent care that was given to the father of a friend of hers while he was in the hospice’s in-patient unit.

“The care he received was just amazing and I really felt that I should be doing something to help the hospice,” she said.

This donation came just in time, said sister Sheryl Newman, head of clinical services.

“Our in-patient unit has eight beds of which the linen gets changed a minimum of once a day. Therefore, the wear and tear on our linen is quite astronomical, and new linen is always a blessing,” she said.

“So thank you to Karin and The Cradle Project for helping us in ensuring that our patients receive the quality care they so deserve,” Sheryl said.
