Creative Academy Learners exposed to problems of other countries in Africa
The children learnt about the hardships faced by people in Zambia, Mozambique, Somalia and Tanzania to name a few.
OVER a 13-day holiday programme, the children at Creative Academy School of Excellence learnt about the hardships faced by some of the countries in Africa.
They focused on a separate country and a specific problem the people in that country experience.
The countries and issues the children learnt about included hunger in Zambia, poverty in Mozambique, lack of education in Somalia and violence against women in Nigeria.

Part of the holiday programme was to do something positive as a potential solution to problems faced by a specific country.
For example, when learning about hunger in Zambia, the children planted a vegetable garden in memory of the people who suffer in Zambia, or making awareness posters against violence against women as experienced in Nigeria
On the day, the children spoke about the lack of education in Somalia. The children had the opportunity to dress up as teachers, and present their own classes.

“After spending 13 days learning about the hardships that people face in Africa, we have come to realise that even though we face problems of our own right here in South Africa, there is plenty to be thankful for,” said the principal, Lolita Visser.
