Maintenance in town is questionable
Another disturbing fact is that there is insufficient policing at traffic lights and stop streets.
Being a resident of Alberton since 1976, I am really disturbed to see how our once well-kept, clean city has gone backwards.
The roads are not well-kept with potholes everywhere and when repaired are done in a slapdash way.
The markings are hardly visible which could lead to accidents and the upkeep of removing grass, sand and weeds does not happen.
Grass and weeds are in the road next to the pavements and middle islands.
This is a disgrace and no pride is taken in maintaining the roads.
What do the roads and parks departments do all day?
Another disturbing fact is that there is insufficient policing at traffic lights and stop streets.
I say this as many a vehicle do not stop at all which again will lead to accidents which could lead to serious injury and even death.
Just a few examples of these are the intersections at Overbury and Rae Frankel streets, at Overbury Street and Swartkoppies Road, Hennie Alberts Street and Swartkoppies Road, Hennie Alberts and Michele Avenue.
I am sure that many a ratepayer would once again want to be proud of our city.
The City of Ekurhuleni is also once again very quick to increase the rates and taxes but there is no additional activity by them.
Hopefully this could be forwarded to the metro and hopefully they respond. I doubt if this would happen, but they may surprise us.
