One dead, 18 injured when taxis collide on the R549 near the Ekurhuleni cemetery

One man was declared dead on the scene.

ONE person was killed, two others sustained serious injuries and multiple others sustained moderate injuries when two minibus taxis collided.

On Tuesday at 7.58am Netcare 911 responded to reports of a collision on the R549 near the Ekurhuleni cemetery in Heidelberg.

Reports from the scene indicated that two minibus taxis were involved in a collision.

Paramedics assessed the patients and found that one man had sustained fatal injuries and was declared dead on the scene.

Two adult patients sustained serious injuries and required advanced life support intervention to stabilise them.

Another 16 patients sustained minor injuries and were treated on the scene.

Once stabilised, all the patients were transported by ambulance to the hospital for further treatment.
