Amcare gives out blankets and soup

Amcare took to the streets to donate blankets and served soup to the less fortunate on August 2 during their soup and blanket drive.

AS an act of generosity, Amcare took to the streets to donate blankets and served soup to the less fortunate on August 2 during their soup and blanket drive.

A group of eight social workers and one volunteer drove around for about four hours, making stops and handing out these donations.

The group stopped at every intersection and ended up handing over 100 blankets while serving the community with giant pots of hearty soup.

During the drive, the group made stops as far as Meyersdal, New Redruth, Randhart and Alberton North.

The soup and blanket drive was made a success by various sectors of the community who donated to the non-profit organisation.

Brenda Albrecht, a fund-raising assistant at Amcare, commented: “The vulnerable and underprivileged were thankful for the donations, and the smiles on their faces showed their appreciation. Amcare thanks its supporters for the help received and hopes a similar event will be hosted soon.”
