Santa Shoebox Project opens corporate pledging

The Santa Shoebox Project collects and distributes gifts for underprivileged children throughout South Africa and Namibia each year.

THE Santa Shoebox Project, now in its 14th year, has officially opened corporate pledging for 2019, offering companies a head-start on public pledging which opens on September 1.

Each year the Santa Shoebox Project collects and distributes gifts for underprivileged children throughout South Africa and Namibia. In 13 years, they have reached more than 850 000 children and this year they hope to add 100 000 to that number.

It is the generosity of not only the public that has helped the Santa Shoebox Project reach so many underprivileged children, but also that of businesses across South Africa who makes corporate pledges each year.

Companies can now pledge their shoe boxes and it’s easier than ever. When more than 20 shoe boxes are pledged, Stor-Age, a main sponsor of the Santa Shoebox Project, will arrange free delivery of the flat-packed shoe boxes within a 40km radius of any Stor-Age store nationwide.

Comments Debbie Zelezniak, CEO of the Santa Shoebox Project: “Corporate donors play a huge role each year, supporting the project in reaching its goals. The Santa Shoebox Project is an ideal beneficiary of corporate CSI, being a Section 18A PBO able to issue tax deductible certificates in recognition of donations. Pledging and packing shoe boxes is also great fun, and an excellent team building exercise.”

If your company is interested in making a pledge this year, simply email the Santa Shoebox Project at teampledge@santashoebox.org.za with the following details:

Your name and contact information.

Your company name and physical address.

The number of shoeboxes you’d like to pledge.

The Santa Shoebox Project will assist with the coordination of your pledge and arrange for delivery of the boxes (subject to availability), after which donors can begin to fill them with the following items: a toothbrush, toothpaste, facecloth, soap, toys, outfit of clothing, school supplies and sweets. During October, completed shoe boxes can be dropped off at any Stor-Age store nationwide and they’ll arrange delivery to the Santa Shoebox Drop-Off events later in October and in November.

Adds Zelezniak: “We’re very excited, and most grateful, for the enormous support given to the project already this year. The Santa Shoebox team is confident that it’s going to be a bumper year. We look forward to welcoming you to our Drop-Offs.”
