AN EARLY celebration of Christmas brought a special treat to residents of Silwerkroon flats for the elderly.

The elderly were glued to their seats as they watched numerous musical shows unfold, which got them singing along.

Through the celebration they were also spoiled with tasty meals while sharing memories with each other.

On the day, Silwerkroon also hosted residents from Cosmos Home for the Aged and a few members from NG Kerk Alberton South.

The gathering was made a success by Koos van der Merwe who facilitated the celebration and kept the elderly entertained as he sung Christmas carols.

Koos told the RECORD the gathering was aimed at uniting the elderly.

“This is a second Christmas programme to be hosted at this home. In total, I have hosted about 35 similar programmes where I visit old age homes and churches.

“Through this I try to get them involved and it’s rewarding to see old people enjoying themselves,” he said.

He said he does this freely and out of love because of his passion for music.

Those who wish to invite Koos for any of his musical programmes can contact him on 082 549 9682.
