Councillors thank residents for attending public electricity outage meeting
We understand that the implementation will not happen overnight, but it is a step in the right direction.

Dear residents,
Just a very grateful warm thank you to all the residents who attended the electricity outage meeting on Saturday.
The hall was packed as public meetings should be.
The MMC and various high ranking officials heard our issues and provided acceptable solutions.
• Greater Security for our sub-stations.
• Contract signed with security company to catch offenders, and assist right up to prosecution. The service includes the provision of a helicopter.
• Improved communication with the councillors as well as the public. Bulk information SMSs will go to residents during power outages.
• Securing mini-subs and distribution boxes.
This is but a short list of resolved issues. We understand that the implementation will not happen overnight, but that this has already started is a step in the right direction.
It is with hope that as communities see the successful results of their efforts when standing up together, that more people will attend these meetings in great numbers.
Thank you for your support and time, and for being prepared to fight for equality and justice.
Councillors Marina Van Wyk, Bruna Haipel (alderman) and Tiaan Kotze
