Free meter replacements in Brackendowns

Current outdated conventional meters will be upgraded to modern prepayment meters in the Brackendowns area.

CURRENT outdated conventional meters will be upgraded to modern prepayment meters in the Brackendowns area.

This is motivated by the City of Ekurhuleni’s (CoE) efforts to achieve a standard of electricity supply and eradicate estimated electricity charges on customers’ accounts.

This comes after challenges that have been experienced with revenue collection and meter maintenance in Brackendowns and surrounding areas.

In a statement, chief area engineer Jaco Steynberg said: “You might have noticed that earlier this year, the old, grey, fibreglass meter enclosures were replaced with more secured, steel enclosures. As a result, Maziya General Services will be working in your area replacing all outdated conventional meters inside these boxes.”

All conventional meters still in these enclosures will be replaced with prepayment meters at no cost to customers. The City no longer procures conventional meters for residential customers and therefore cannot accommodate customers who wish to remain on the old metering system.

Customers may contact Sithembiso Ngobese on 076 465 0989 to schedule their free replacement.
