WATCH: Amcare women learn self-defence moves

Cadena and Nick Ingel visited Amcare to give ladies a class in self-defense.

On September 24 Cadena visited Amcare with Nick Ingel from EMET Gyms to provide a self-defence course for the women of the Victim Empowerment Programme.

Staff members of Amcare and volunteers from Cadena shared in the experience.

Ingel gave a class on how to be aware of your surroundings and always being alert to possible dangers. Other topics discussed were the importance of range between the attacker and the victim and potential improvised weapons for self-defence.

Ingel went on to demonstrate basic self-defence techniques, focusing on the vulnerable zones of the human body, including the eyes, nose, throat and groin. According to Ingel, no matter how large a potential attacker is, they don’t have protective muscles in these areas.

The techniques he taught were meant to be repeated until either the attacker is fought off or the situation forces you to change tactics.
