Pledge Santa Shoebox and help bring joy

EVERY year the Santa Shoebox Project, with the help of volunteers, collects around 100 000 beautifully packed shoeboxes and distributes them to vulnerable areas in local communities.
Through this they introduce a little bit of magic into the lives of children who have never experienced it.
Individuals, groups and companies can log onto the website and select a child or children in their area to make a box for.
They will receive a label with the child’s name, gender, age and clothing size.
Each box must contain these new, unused items: soap, a face cloth, toothpaste, a toothbrush, sweets, a toy, educational supplies and an outfit of clothing.
This year, to help fight the problem of single-use plastics, Santa Shoebox would like to encourage donors to include a reusable shopping bag in the box as well for the recipient children to carry their treasures home in.
The Johannesburg South drop-off weekend is October 25 to 27. The drop-off point will be the Alberton Civic Centre basement conference room on Alwyn Taljaard Street in Alberton.
At drop-off, each lovingly decorated and packed shoebox is scanned in, checked and crated by volunteers to make sure each box arrives at the exact facility where the chosen child is.
Team members will deliver each box to the recipient children at a celebration day.
