Walkers donate R140 000 to Stepping Stone Hospice and Care Services
“The team, with their endless amount of energy and positivity is a huge inspiration to us.” - Tersia Burger, CEO Stepping Stone Hospice
THE Shuffling Walking Team donated a whopping R140 000 to Stepping Stone Hospice and Care Services on October 7.
These funds were raised at their eighth annual family fun walk that took place in Bedfordview.
Over the years, the Shuffling Walking Team donated thousands of rand to non-profit organisations who mostly deal with cancer-related issues.
“Stepping Stone Hospice has always been one of the beneficiaries of this amazing event and for that, we are eternally grateful,” said CEO of Hospice, Tersia Burger.
The walk, with its aim to raise cancer awareness, offered three routes, a 2km, a 5km and a 7.9 km through the beautiful streets of Bedfordview, with over 3 000 walkers participating. The incredible amount of R768 709 was raised through this effort, breaking all previous records.
“This event is most definitely one of the highlights of the year for us. It is brilliantly organised and the team, with their endless amount of energy and positivity, is a huge inspiration to us.
“Thank you from all of us, but mostly from our patients who benefit from your hard work and generosity,” said Tersia.
