Alberton High learner needs your help to travel overseas

Leandrei Strauss (18), a multi-talented Grade 11 learner at Alberton High School, appeals for donations to make her dreams come true.

LEANDREI Strauss (18), a multi-talented Grade 11 learner at Alberton High School, is at the door step of achieving her dreams.

For the past four years, her dream was to always go to New York and take part in the International Modeling and Talent Association’s (IMTA) convention.

That dream is within her reach but can only be made possible if Leandrei receives funds to help cover her convention expenses.

The International Modeling and Talent Association (IMTA) is the place where the world’s top model and talent agents, managers and casting directors come to find new faces.

The platform offers unique performance and educational opportunities for aspiring models and artists, to showcase their craft and enable them to get their careers started.

The year 2019 has been a busy one for Leandrei. She has been attending castings for adverts and taking part in modelling competitions. She was scouted on her Instagram by The International Arts Talent Showcase after uploading her modelling pictures which caught a lot of people’s attention.

Leandrei then took part in auditions in May where she later received a call back to attend the ninth Annual National Round which were hosted in September at Silverstar Casino.

During her auditions, she had to showcase her modelling skills and left judges impressed.

She was then scouted by international judges and got two call backs from Joey Hunter and Nate Butler to attend the New York IMTA convention in 2020.

Leading the way

Leandrei started her modelling at Figures Model Finesse Alberton in 2015.

There she managed to build her confidence, appearance and model related skills.

In May 2018, she went for a six months course at The Model Academy where she got introduced to modelling, castings, model etiquette and requirements of a model.

She then graduated in December 2018 as a professional model and signed up with Rage Models.

Leaving her mark

The 18-year-old model was recently crowned Miss Alberton High School.

She has also taken part at the Cansa Socialite competition at Monte Casino, where she received an invite to go to Orlando in Florida in 2020.

She told the RECORD that attending the New York IMTA convention would be making her dream come true.

“This opportunity means everything to me as I have been waiting for years to go overseas and show my skills to the world,” she said.
