Suspect arrested for stealing safes with firearms

A suspect stole safes with firearms in them and he was detained at Alberton SAPS

ALBERTON – On January 21, Constable Teffo and Constable Moremi of Germiston SAPS were asked by their commander to help collect a suspect’s clothes from his place of employment in Germiston, as his employers could not allow the suspect into the facility where he worked.

The two members escorted the suspect, unaware of what had happened. On the way, the officers asked him where they should take him and he gave them the address. They then realised that it was a house where a housebreaking had taken place.

The officers interviewed the suspect and he told them he was a security guard at the house and that he had stolen two safes and sold them at a scrap yard in Alberton. That was why he was not allowed back inside.

The officers asked the suspect to direct them to where the items had been sold and the items were recovered.

A firearm and zig gun was found inside the safes. The suspects were arrested and charged for the crimes at Alberton SAPS.
