WATCH: Harcourt’s Walk a Mile in their Shoes a great success
The annual event was attended by many who walked a mile in high heels in bringing attention of the abuse women are facing.
Imagine walking 1.6km on a very hot summers day and you are not what one should call fit. Now imagine doing that in heels.
Every year, Harcourts hosts the Walk a Mile event, where they all walk in heels in order to raise funds for various women’s shelters and charities.
The annual event was attended by many who walked a mile in high heels, in bringing attention to the abuse women are facing.
This year the personnel from Harcourts, men and women, gathered at Rietvlei on Friday at 10am to do a 1.6km walk in heels to raise awareness against gender-based violence.

The aim was to raise R200 000 for Get Up Woman Upliftment Centre, IDUC, Tshwane Leadership Foundation and Yokhuselo Haven.
The East Rand zone raised R60 000 for a Midvaal-based centre (Get Up Woman) for abused women and children, with a total nationally raised of over R180 000.
WATCH:
Upon arrival at Rietvlei, you could see men from Harcourts in heels of their choice that they would be ‘walking the mile in their shoes’.
With the walk starting promptly at 10am, the team were cheered on by all people either visiting the farm or working there for the day.
A highlight of the walk was when the men reached the top road at Grace Trinity School, an all girls school, all the girls came out of the classrooms screaming in support and appreciation for what these men and women were doing in taking a stand against violence against women and children.
A spectator on the day described it as one of those goosebump moments that put a lump in her throat and brought tears to her eyes.
