50 new firefighters for the City of Ekurhuleni

City of Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency Management Services (DEMS) recently appointed 50 new firefighters in Bedfordview.

City of Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency Management Services (DEMS) recently appointed 50 new firefighters in Bedfordview.

This was aimed at increasing the numbers in different fire stations across the City.

Due to vacant spaces created by promotions and resignations in the work force, the City filled the empty vacancies by appointing the department’s reserve force members in permanent positions.

The members were all given their rank markings and welcomed in the service by the executive manager of operations Lifty Ngoepe.

The new members’ appointment started on November 1. They all underwent induction and orientation processes.

With these new appointees, the division is reported to being able to fast-track the services rendered to the community of Ekurhuleni and beyond. The entire group resonated commitment and dedication in their new role.

The intakes are in line with the City’s vision to empower the youth and women in the employment sector.
