Just a few days after the official Diabetes Day, Alberton Lions commemorated the day by hosting a diabetic testing session in New Market Mall on November 16.

Alberton Lions Club, among other clubs in the country, stationed themselves in different parts of the country to offer diabetes testing. The day marked the fourth time this year since the testing was offered and the testing was said to be hosted annually. During the field testing both young and old made their way to have their sugar levels tested.

Ian King, a senior member of the Alberton Lions, said through the testing they wanted people to know their health status.

“In our visits we normally do blood pressure as well and eye tests. We don’t do recommendations, we simply tell people that their count is high and that they must visit a doctor for a check-up,” he said.
