Stepping Stone Hospice’s Tree of Lights ceremony took place on November 30 at Reading Country Club.

“We fully understand the need of family and friends to remember their loved ones, especially over this period, and have therefore decided to create an event that can be seen as a beacon of hope, strength and a celebration of life,” said hospice CEO Tersia Burger.
In partnership with Reading Country Club, a beautiful tree on the Reading grounds was selected to carry the many messages of hope, celebration, and memories of lives that mattered to so many.
Family and friends were offered the opportunity to purchase a remembrance globe and then write a dedicated message to their loved one, a message that is being posted on the hospice’s website under a dedicated Tree of Lights page.
“The switching on off the lights gave life to these messages and with the lights now staying switched on throughout December, it will act as a reminder that our loved ones will never be forgotten,” explained Tersia.
Funds raised through this event ensures that hope, comfort and support continue to be provided for Stepping Stone Hospice patients and families on the journey of life-limiting illnesses.
Hospice’s marketing and fund-raising manager, Marietjie Tame, said: “We will strive to grow and develop the Tree of Lights ceremony to become something we can all look forward to as we approach year-end festivities.
“We also would like to thank Reading Country Club for hosting the event and for their kind assistance in helping to make it happen.
“We are also eternally grateful to Peter Muller from Tshepang Electrical who assisted with the installation of the lights.
“Thank you and may you all experience a blessed and peaceful festive season,” Tersia added.
