A fence is knocked over, yet again, by a reckless driver

A Mayberry Park resident is left with R6 500 worth of damages after a car knocked down her fence and fled the scene on the night of December 4.
Carol Figueiredo said JG Strydom Road mostly has reckless drivers who are not vigilant.
She told the RECORD that it was the second time that the wall, at the back of her house, was knocked over by a motorist.
The concerned Figueiredo said not only is this inconvenient but she also feels that her safety has been compromised.
“It was raining quite hard on the night and we may have not heard the car hit the wall
“I don’t know how long it will take to get this wall fixed and this means I will have to take some time off from work,” she said.
Figueiredo also said the previous motorist hit her wall on the same spot.
“At least the last motorist was decent enough to pay for the damages. I now have to pay for these damages myself.
“Our previous neighbour’s fence was also hit a few times and this is becoming a regular occurrence. I’m considering putting in pillars to avoid these incidents,” said Figueiredo.
She suggested that a solution be brought forward by the City council on the JG Strydom Road.
