Author’s book benefits Alberton SPCA

Nadia Gaffoor, a teacher at Central College, has recently published a book from which its proceeds will help run the Alberton SPCA.

Local teacher and author, Nadia Gaffoor, has recently published a children’s book and a portion of the proceeds from the book will aid the Alberton SPCA.

Nadia who has her furry friends’ best interests at heart published her book, titled Bunny’s Tale, on November 28.

With her self-published book she mostly experienced printing and layout costs, but that did not deter Nadia.

Out of her generosity, she decided that at least 10 per cent from her proceeds received from her book should go towards helping the SPCA.

The South Crest resident is a teacher at Clinton Central College, an independent Secondary School.

Many purposes

Her debut story book costs R120 and from that R12 will be donated to Alberton SPCA.

She said her book can also be used by teachers in classroom activities.

“There is no profit from the book. The book focuses on teaching children how to read and inform them about the Big Five game animals.

“It also teaches children about conserving different animals and parents can use the book to teach their children how to read,” she said.

Her easy to read story book is age appropriate and caters for children aged from four to 10. The book is about a story of a curious little rabbit called ‘Bunny’.

Nadia told the RECORD that her book excellently teaches children vocabulary and grammar, which is beneficial to their academics.

Moral of the story

Nadia had a positive response from children who have shown interest in her book. Bunny is the main character. Through the book she intends to teach children to embrace and respect themselves in their upbringing.

Way forward

She will kick-start the new year by publishing two more books which are a continuation of Bunny’s Tale, belonging to a series. The two books will be titled Bunny gets lost and Bunny meets a new friend.
