City claims increased outages are caused by damage from third parties

Following the recent continuous rain, the City has reported that it’s experiencing an influx of cable faults.

In a statement, the City’s divisional head of communication, Nhlanhla Cebekhulu, said the main cause of the increased outages is caused by damages by third parties.

“Fibre optic contractors and others recently did extensive excavation work in the Verwoerd Park and surrounding areas.

“Cables were damaged, but some of the cable faults were latent and only appeared after the rainy spell,” he said.
