UPDATE: Head of cemeteries responds to Eden Park cemetery complaint

Head of cemeteries in Ekurhuleni Harriet Bless will send a team to Eden Park cemeteries to clear the overgrown weeds and grass at the graveyard on January 17.

Head of cemeteries in Ekurhuleni Harriet Bless will send a team to Eden Park cemeteries to clear the overgrown weeds and grass at the graveyard on January 17.

This comes after a complaint which was made by Rachel van Wyk (60), an Eden Park resident who had taken it upon herself to clean her loved one’s grave.

She made the complaint after hopelessly waiting for the long grass and overgrown weeds to be cut and cleared.

She complained about the unappealing state of the cemetery and that she felt it was neglected.

The RECORD then contacted Bless, who then responded to the complaint.

“We will send a team who will then cut the long grass and returning the cemetery to its normal state. We last cut the grass in May 2019 when the contract ended, but the team should be done cutting the grass in a day,” she said.
