Body armour for the protection of NSPCA members
The NSPCA received vests for their protection for when they assist in raids on dog fighting.
ON January 31, NSPCA in Clark Street, Florentia received bullet-proof vests to protect their members, who have to accompany the police on raids on dog fighting. “This is a growing scourge in South Africa and a form of organised crime,” said Anthony Doran.
Dog fighting in South Africa is illegal and a form of animal cruelty. During the course of their assistance to the police, the NSPCA officials have risked their safety and lives to aid abused animals, according to Anthony.
The NSPCA required body armour for personal protection and four were donated. Ballistic Body Armour, manufacturers of the vests for the NSPCA, approached DuPont, Protection, South Africa (technology owner and supplier of Kevlar-brand products to DuPont) to assist with donating the vests to the NSPCA.
