Giovanni Petersen’s death left an empty hole for his family, friends and community members.
The 20-year-old from Bellavista was shot dead on February 18.
Giovanni’s mother, Caroline Petersen, said she loved her boy very much and to see him murdered the way he was, pains her.
“I raised my children to be responsible individuals and to respect other people. I know my teachings stuck with them.
“I fail to understand why my son was murdered the way he was murdered,” she said.

According to the family, Giovanni was found with his legs tied up and with wounds all over his face.
“My son had no problems with the people of Bellavista. This was just an act of evil done to my son.
“We as a family now have to bear the pain of being without a son due to the hands of deceitful individuals,” said Petersen.
His mother described him as a polite person who have never done anything wrong and that he was committed to his love of music.
“He used to get calls to perform at various gigs in and around the area. He wasn’t in any gangs, he loved his own space and we will remember him as a family,” said Petersen.
