‘Cause of death case unattended for months’

Family mourns the loss of loved one as the police say they are still investigating the cause of an accident which led to the death of their family member.

BRACKENHURST – A resident of Brackenhurst, Daphne Groenewald, received a call around 09:45 on September 14, 2013 from her father’s cell phone and was informed by a Union hospital trauma sister that her father had been involved in an accident, which occurred on the corner of Vermooten and Prince Alberts streets.

She rushed through to the Union hospital, where her father was taken and the necessary person/s assisted her with the situation. She was notified that her father was in critical condition. Her father passed on the same day.

Daphne could not comment on further findings as it remains part of a police investigation. The Brackendowns SAPS reported on February 26 that the case is still under investigation and they are waiting for the eyewitness to give a statement. The docket will go to court for a decision. The suspect was charged for culpable homicide and is out on bail.
