Overgrown weeds and grass in General Albertspark cause for concern
“I wish that council cleans up this road and many other roads in Alberton to avoid costly repairs."
Jurie Beyers, a concerned resident, has raised a heartfelt complaint regarding the overgrown weeds and grass on the sidewalk of Kiepersol Avenue and Akasia Road.
The General Albertspark resident told the RECORD the unattended grass and weeds are now growing into the road and, as a result, creating more damage.
“This is an example of what is happening in the streets all over Alberton. This is to make people realise that allowing this overgrowing grass in the streets breaks up the tar surface.
“This will then lead to future costly road patching, which will cost much more than doing preventative cleaning up,” said Beyers.
He urged council to attend to the problem before it is too late.
“I wish that council cleans up this road and many other roads in Alberton to avoid costly repairs.
“They should clean up these roads the moment grass and weeds start growing. If it rains, water sinks where the ground is and eventually creates potholes,” he said.
The RECORD has escalated the complaint to the City and response will be published once it has been provided.
