The metro urges residents to wear gloves, wash their hands and disinfect their wheelie bins to curb the spread of Covid-19.

Waste collectors handle many bins on a daily basis.

The gloves they wear are for personal protection, and are, therefore, not regularly changed.

Should one bin be contaminated, other bins handled thereafter may be contaminated.

The metro, therefore, urges customers to take precautionary measures, such as washing their hands, wearing gloves and disinfecting their bins, to prevent contracting infections that may be caused by the multiple contacts waste collectors have with many bins.
