Making a living from nuts
There are plenty ways to make money in South Africa, and one of those ways include selling nuts.
PALM RIDGE – Depending on the money she makes by selling fruits and vegetables at the Palmridge shopping centre, Dorris Nkosi has been a street vendor since 2008, when she arrived here from Maputo in Mozambique.
“The main attraction to my stall is the crushed peanuts I’m selling. I crush them in the old real African traditional way. Most people love the crushed peanuts, which they add to their cooked spinach.
“The crushing of the peanuts is a constant reminder of back home where I come from, and it feeds my three children,” said Dorris with a big smile on her face. “Timanga” is the Shangaan word for crushed peanuts.
