Stepping Stone Hospice’s Charity Shop ready to serve the community

The shop's trading hours will remain the same as before lockdown.

Staff members from Stepping Stone Hospice’s Charity Shop were very excited to return to work on May 4.

The shop opened its doors for the very first time since the Stage 5 lockdown. However, only a third of the staff can work due to the Stage 4 restrictions.

The RECORD spoke to Tercia Rambevha, shop supervisor, who informed the newspaper that they are very strict with clients before allowing them into the store.

“Before entering the store we will check if the person(s) are wearing a mask and then we will check their temperature and offer them hand sanitiser.”

“Each person also needs to fill in a form with some of their personal details before entering the store,” she said.

On May 1 some of the employees came in to reorganise the store by moving everything that falls under the essential list to the front of the store and cornering off the non-essential goods.

The shop’s trading hours will remain the same as before lockdown.

“We are in need of donations like winter clothes for babies, children and adults. We, however, are grateful for any other donations like educational books or second-hand crutches,” Tercia said.

According to her, the community can feel safe when coming to the shop for essentials goods.  “We as employees are very excited to be back and we are ready to serve the community.”

We also urge the community to stay safe during this time and to remember that we will get to the other side even stronger.

“We wish you all well,” she concluded.
