Dr Willie Nel will no longer be practicing as a dentist in Alberton

Dr Willie Nel says thank you.

Being part of Alberton for the last 34 years and getting to know so many wonderful people here, I owe it to everybody that I know to let you know what is happening in my life.

As many of you know, I was involved in a very bad cycling accident during last year’s 947 cycle race. I ended up in Millpark Hospital with a skull fracture and brain bleeding.

I was in an induced coma for the brain to recover and from there I was transferred to the Netcare Rehabilitation Centre in Auckland Park for treatment.

I was discharged on January 8, but booked off until the end of May to give me time to recover from all my injuries.
Unfortunately, my health is not 100 per cent back to normal and I was told by my doctor on May 20 that I should not return to my profession as a dentist.

Very unfortunate for me because dentistry was a career very close to my heart! From the bottom of my heart I thank everybody that I was involved with for their support, friendship and all the wonderful memories we have built over the years.

We have walked a wonderful path together and I will always cherish my years in Alberton. As a family we are going to stay in Alberton because of all the wonderful friends we have made over the years!

Thanks again and let’s keep the ball rolling!

Dr Willie Nel
