THE Dunamis Christian cd launch was held at Gold Reef City Lyric Theatre on May 28 which included both the children’s and adult band members.
Dunamis entered into a national competition called Bands for Christ in November 2013 and they won the competition. The prize was a studio recording album and a music video to be featured on One Gospel and TBN.
The process of the album took place around March this year at a studio in Pretoria and after the completion of the album, brought them through to the launch.
The children’s album was recorded during September, October 2013. It wasn’t a solid process at first but the album was finalised around April this year.
The recording of the album took place when Megan Kate, a member of the children’s group brought the idea forward to Leon Meyer (lead guitarist/producer).
According to him, the lyrics were very strong and the process took off from there- 80 percent of the songs were written by the children and the remainder 20 percent by Leon. The children’s album was recorded at a studio in Germiston.

Amanda Knipe: “It was very humbling because I realised how great God is and that he can use anybody to achieve what he wants. He can exceed all expectations that you mioght have. It’s not about how well you can play, it’s about your heart and being willing that God can use you for the purpose of his Kingdom. I believe that we have done this in order to be a blessing for the nations to further his kingdom. At the end of the day, all glory and honour is to him.”
Legrange Bekker: “I think the recording was just a small part of capturing the heart behind the album. The entire process from how the songs developed and came to be from what God is releasing to us is the main objective. It was a great experience running through battle of the bands contest which was a lengthy process and ended up in the price of recording the album and trust that it will release the heart from the songs that were written. Elvira duToit: “It was a very fulfilling experience. It’s really full of life and it is really spirit led so in terms of connecting to the frequency of heaven, this recording and cd really accomplished that… to bring it through to the people. We tapped into heaven and now we are giving it to the people.”
Devin Wade du Plessis: “I was very nervous but when I done it, I realised that it wasn’t about me, it was about spreading the word of God and when I recorded I just felt free and fell deeper in God’s presence.”
Bontle Mtsdongo: “At first I was nervous because this is something I had never done in my life before but then when I started recording, I began experiencing something different. God started showing me that it is not about singing, it’s about spreading his word. I created a mind set to start spreading the word of God. This has helped me grow as a person and fear has been broken out of my life because I took a challenge that I’ve never taken in my life.”
Zoe Mngamezulu: “I knew I could sing since I was a little girl. When I heard there were auditions for the cd, I went along with it and never realised how good I am and since the auditions, God has given me this gift to minister to the world.”
Megan Kuit: “It was an encounter with God. I never really believed that I could write songs but then one night God expressed his feelings to me and form there on, God said I should take it forward.”
