FOX Security were doing normal patrols in Grey Villea Street, Meyersdal on May 21 and spotted a suspicious man.
Tactical team members approached the man, who was carrying a red sports bag. When they started talking to him, he was very nervous and anxious. The bag was searched and they found a plastic bag covering 32 copper pipes cut into 30cm pieces to fit inside.
When asked if he had stolen the pipes, he admitted to the tactical members that he had stolen it from his work. The suspect was detained at Brackendowns SAPS on May 21 at 16:05. He appeared at Palmridge magistrate’s court on May 22. The case is still under investigation.
