Youth Day Walk in Walkerville
A Youth Day Walk will take place in Walkerville on Monday, June 16, at the Stirrup Glen Horse and Game Farm in Alwynspoort, Walkerville. The walk is done in association with seven different charities.
JOHANNESBURG: Registration for the walk takes place from 9:00 and the walk starts at 10:00. The participation fee is only R30 per person and includes lucky draws.
The Youth Day Walk is a leisurely 6km walk through a Game Farm on dirt roads. Prepare to see impala, zebra, gemsbok, wildebeest and more.
The walk is suitable for ages from five to 65. Parental discretion is advised.
There will be supervised childcare for children that are too small to do the walk. They can play safely while their parents and siblings are gone. The play area is at the starting venue, and will be hosted by qualified staff from Green Door Nursery School. This is included in the R30 entrance fee.
Regretably no wheeled vehicles, including prams and wheelchairs will be allowed.
Dogs on a leash are welcome. Water will be provided on the route for dogs.
Outside horses are not allowed. The Stirrup Glen has a limited number of horses for hire at R100 per hour.
Good foot wear is a must, tekkies or hiking boots. There are rough roads in some parts of the trail.
There is no smoking on the walk except in designated areas. No littering on the walk, there will only be toilet facilities at the start/end of the walk. There are also food and drink stalls at the start/end venue.
