Inside report with Michael Basch
Nervously excited-Now that the elections are over, all be it there are still some by-elections that need to be contested, I am back into the swing of things.

ALBERTON: I generally use this space to have a good old rant about the state of affairs, but am challenging myself to see the good that is out there in an attempt to be more positive, and hopefully inspire positivity in the world around me. So when I see a community working together for the common good, it makes me happy; happy because maybe if we all do more than just complain, the future will look a little brighter. I am also happy to report that a huge number of your complaints and issues given to me over the last week have been resolved – smiles all round.
I have been doing my rounds attending the different CPF sector meetings, especially those in Brackenhurst, Brackendowns, Alrode, Mayberrypark and Meyersdal. What I have seen is the growth in attendance at these meetings. This means that communities are starting to take their safety into their hands. This is an exciting prospect, because it means that we may just be able to turn the tide on crime, which has been ravaging our areas of late.
There is still a way to go before we are back to the standard of living that we should be at, but the process is happening. And never before has there been a more important time either, given that there are real social problems that we need to deal with, a poor economy and huge unemployment, alcohol and drugs problems and divided families. Now is the time for the good, proud and upstanding members of our community to become the example of neighborliness (if that is even a word). So for now I will remain nervously excited over the positives that drive us all forward to a brighter future.
In conclusion, I will like to add to my list of thanks, and this week my thanks goes out to Jennifer Ncita – Jennifer you are the backbone of the CCC office and I would be lost without your assistance, so from me and my community – a big thank you.
