Burnt down house leaves family distraught

On Wednesday, June 25 an unemployed and single mum from Audi Street lost all her belongings in a fierce fire.

EDEN PARK – Violet Peters and her two children, aged 8 and 10, lost all their furniture, clothes, blankets and the children’s school uniforms as well as books.

“I still don’t know how the fire started. I only left the heater on to warm up the room for my children to wash later and went to my sister’s kitchen to prepare food for the children. It was not even an hour when we saw smoke and flames coming out of the back room.

“When I opened the door, the whole room was in flames. People pushed in to put out the fire and several people phoned the fire department in Palmridge. We phoned at 17:30 and they arrived at 18:30, after my neighbours had already put out the fire with their garden hose pipes. In a matter of an hour, all my belongings went up in flames.”

Neighbours, family and friends are begging on behalf of Violet and her children, for donations from the RECORD‘s readers to help the grieving mother and her two children to make it through the winter.

Violet can be contacted at 078 379 0412. The family of three is presently sleeping at a neighbour’s house.
