A SINGLE 29-year-old man was shot dead at midday on August 3 in Little Germiston, between Phase 4 and Edenmews Flats.

Police reports state that the deceased was sitting in his car with a friend, when an armed man walked up to the car and started shooting at the driver. Three fatal shots were fired at the driver. One shot was fired at the passenger, who only suffered a flesh wound. The armed man allegedly just walked away after the shooting.

The police is puzzled by the shooting, because suddenly there are no eyewitnesses or anyone coming forward with information. They say that even the passenger claims that he did not have a clear view of the shooter.

The family told the RECORD that the deceased had reported that a man hit him on the head with a gun on Friday, August 1 in Riemvasmaak for no apparent reason The suspect and the shooter could be the same man.

A memorial service was held on August 7 at the Community Hall, while the body was transported to Port Elizabeth where he will be laid to rest.

Police are requesting help from the community, especially eyewitnesses or anyone with any information regarding the shooting and the assault to come forward. Information will be appreciated and will be treated as confidential.
