Shooting at Alberton City

Emergency personnel, center management and security reacted swiftly to a robbery at Telkom Direct in Alberton City on Thursday July 31.

ALBERTON – Police and emergency services were on the scene within minutes. Alberton City Management is supporting the SAPS in their investigation to bring the perpetrators of this crime to book and will continue to give the police their full assistance.

“We understand that there have been several robberies at Telkom Direct stores recently,” Management said.

Unfortunately, a shopper was injured as robbers fled the mall when a bullet grazed his leg. He was attended to by medics and taken to hospital for further treatment.

Alberton City Management would like to thank members of the SAPS, medics and the mall’s security staff for their fast and professional reaction.

“The safety of our shoppers, retailers and their staff is of the utmost importance to us. There are extensive security measures in place at the mall, which are assessed on an ongoing basis. We will also undertake our own full investigation of the incident together with our security advisors,” the management said.
