Old Natalspruit hospital to be demolished

The buildings of the old Natalspruit Hospital are to be demolished, but plans have not been finalised for a new use for the land.

KATLEHONG – Gauteng Health MEC Qedani Mahlangu in reply to my questions in the Gauteng Legislature revealed that no equipment was left in the old hospital now that the new hospital has been opened in Vosloorus.

Shadow MEC for Health, Jack Bloom said, “I welcome her assurance that ‘nothing will go to waste’ at the old hospital and that donations have been made to various NGOs, including two park homes.”

The property is now the responsibility of the Gauteng Department of Infrastructure Development which will be in charge of security there and will decide on a future use for the land once the buildings have been demolished.

Due care should be taken concerning this land as it is susceptible to sinkholes.
